The "STEP UP" Bible School in Dnipro
Waiting, planning, and praying for so long! And see how God has blessed us! On 16 November 2019, the “STEP UP” Bible School opened in the city of Dnipro! This is a joint project between Zaporizhzhya Bible Seminary and the ECB Central Church of Dnipro. At the first session, “Spiritual Growth”, 40 young people attended, from 11 to 23 years of age, from five different locales in the Dnepropetrovsk region. For a whole day they got training in Bible study methods and various ways of praying. In their sub-groups the learners worked together over Scripture and prayed. At the end of the day each of the students wrote a concluding work where they showed what new thing they discovered, what especially touched them, and what they were already prepared to apply tomorrow.
Special thanks to ZBS teacher Maxim Belov, who succeeded in conveying the material in an interesting, accessible way. The wonderful melding of theory and practice sparked the young people to deeply consider their spiritual life. The Bible School’s objective is the spiritual growth of youth, the inculcation of biblical foundations, and preparation for ministry. The School itself runs for 7 sessions, one Saturday per month. Each session is devoted to a separate topic. Practical sessions are planned as well: a session for social ministry, where we’ll be serving in children’s homes, homes for handicapped children, or homes for the elderly, and an evangelistic session during which we’ll get practice in street evangelism.
The next session, “Bibliology”, takes place on 21 December. Our students are eagerly anticipating the continuation of their training! Praise God for the privilege of serving youth and seeing how God works in their hearts!
